WASHINGTON — Treasury Department Federal Credit Union recently opened its Administrative Office and Capitol Hill branch with Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton and U.S. Treasurer Anna Escobedo Cabral on hand to help celebrate.

During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Cabral gave the Keynote Address and Holmes Norton provided a greeting from the nation's capitol.

Cabral acknowledged once being a member of the underbanked and citing the exorbitant fees charged by check cashing operations stated, "It costs more to be poor." Cabral said that the TDFCU branch in the heart of the nation's Capitol, "Is all about opening doors to people who do not have a relationship with a financial institution."

Holmes Norton applauded the new TDFCU Capitol Hill Branch because, "You serve a very broad group of people."

TDFCU services include: free financial counseling; free checking account with no minimum balance requirement and a debit card; a wide variety of savings accounts; a wide variety of loans, such as personal, vehicle and real estate loans; easy access through Home Banking; Bill Payer and online applications; and investment services.
