ARLINGTON, Va. — NAFCU announced that Tessema Tefferi has joined its staff as associate director of regulatory affairs as of Oct. 10.

Tefferi comes to NAFCU from the National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, where he addressed corporate, cooperative and regulatory issues in the general counsel's office. He will help establish and maintain relations with NCUA and other federal agencies and trade associations. He will also assist in preparing regulatory analyses, writing and reviewing comment letters, and explaining NAFCU positions and regulatory activities to member credit unions. Accounting and taxes will be his main focus among regulatory issues.

“Tessema brings extensive regulatory experience to his new post,” NAFCU Senior Counsel and Director of Regulatory Affairs Carrie Hunt said. “His knowledge of the cooperative structure will be a great asset for NAFCU.”

Tefferi earned his bachelor's degree in history from Goshen College and graduated from George Mason University School of Law. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the American Bar Association, and the Fairfax Bar Association.
