NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — The National Association of Credit Union Service Organizations recently announced that NCUA Vice Chairman Rodney E. Hood would address its 2006 Business Services Collaborative.
The second annual meeting is slated for Nov. 1-3 at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel.
Vice Chairman Hood has been a strong advocate of credit union outreach through business services. "Credit unions play a pivotal role in helping to foster what President Bush calls the 'ownership society,'" Hood said. "Credit unions should encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of their members. Therefore, no cap should be placed on your ability to meet the needs of your members."

"If you did not attend NACUSO's highly successful inaugural event last year, don't expect a typical conference where a slate of speakers addressing general and breakout sessions do all of the talking and the attendees sit back and do all the listening," NACUSO Board Member Mike Hales, president of Counter Intelligence Associates, stated. "This isn't your father's conference."
Subjects covered at the conference include:
o Keeping the loan pipeline full, business deposit generation and marketing success stories;
o Business services opportunities, i.e., treasury management, leasing, and cooperative purchasing; o Risk management issues: credit risk, environmental risk, reputation risk and professional liability risk; o Examination trends, issues, outlook and tips on preparing for a business loan examination; and o Leveraging the CUSO network: loan participations and syndications, underwriting standardization, independent loan review, vendor management and special asset management. Registration is due Oct. 27 and is available online at www.nacuso.org or by calling 888-462-2870. NACUSO offers credit union and CUSO personnel a one-year membership and the 2006 Business Services Collaborative registration fee at a combined rate of $745, a savings of $125. The collaborative registration fee is $495 for members and $695 for nonmembers.
