BELOIT, Wis. — As part of Wisconsin's "Money Smart Week," First America Credit Union is holding an investment seminar for beginners.

The free seminar was scheduled to be held Oct. 2 and will feature information on ways to save for retirement, mutual funds, and discussions on individual retirement accounts, stocks and 401(k) plans.

Money Smart Week Wisconsin is a creation of the Governor's Council on Financial Literacy. First Lady of Wisconsin Jessica Doyle serves as its honorary chair. Administrative activities and oversight of Money Smart Week are conducted by the Office of Financial Literacy of the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions and by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

"The number of financial education programs offered during Money Smart Week far exceeds what we expected when we started," said DFI Secretary Lorrie Keating Heinemann.

The $148 million credit union, along with banks and several other organizations, are participating in Money Smart Week Oct. 2-7. More information can be found at http://www.moneysmartwi.org.
