RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Altura Credit Union has introduced a new Visa credit card that gives back to the community.
Every time a member uses the new Visa card offered by Altura, a percentage of the purchase will be donated to local schools or libraries.
Altura is piloting the card launch in conjunction with the credit union's newest branch, opened in Murrieta this month. Donations will be directed to Murrieta schools and libraries.
“New and existing Altura Credit Union members can designate a public or private school or library in Murrieta to receive their donation,” explained Donna Michalka, vice president of marketing for Altura. “It won't cost our members a dime, but it can add up to a significant difference in helping foster literacy in the community.”
Donations will be made quarterly.
The new card has no annual fee, no balance transfer fee and rates can be as low as 8.99%. In rolling out the card to the community, Altura has promoted the fact that as a credit union, its card rates and terms are better than those of many other financial institutions.
