WASHINGTON — CUNA will host its National Financial Literacy Summit Sept. 26 at Washington, D.C.'s National Press Club.

Several have already committed to participate, including Congressional Financial and Economic Literacy Caucus Co-Chair Congressman Ruben Hinojosa (D-Texas); Deputy Assistant Treasury Secretary for Financial Literacy Dan Iannicola Jr.; NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson; Junior Achievement CEO David Chernow; Jumpstart Executive Director Laura Levine; National Endowment for Financial Education CEO Ted Beck; Nancy Register, director of the Consumer Federation of America's "America Saves" program; and Jane Schuchardt, national program leader of the Department of Agriculture's Cooperative Extension Service. Additionally, Michelle Singletary, who writes the syndicated "Color of Money" column, will serve as the luncheon speaker.

Other participants in the event include the state leagues, CUNA board members or their designees, the National Credit Union Foundation, the state foundation network, and credit union system organizations including the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions, Defense Credit Union Council, CUNA Mutual Group, National Youth Involvement Board, Education Credit Union Council, AACUL, the Association of Corporate Credit Unions, and the World Council of Credit Unions.
