DAYTON, Ohio — Universal 1 Credit Union is breaking new ground by opening the first student run branch in the area at Oakwood High School.

The approximately 300 square-foot branch is open only to Oakwood students, faculty, and other staff members on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Teacher Advisors at Oakwood HS will help student volunteers operate the branch.

The branch is designed to be a stepping stone to financial independence by providing students hands on experience in running a small credit union office while building and developing their personal financial management skills.
