ARLINGTON, Va. -- NAFCU will host a Webcast next month to help bring credit unions to speed on Bank Secrecy Act updates.
"We have a Webcast coming up in October and today being the anniversary of 9/11," NAFCU Director of Compliance Anthony Demangone said last week, "it kind of goes hand in hand because since then credit unions have been facing increased Bank Secrecy Act requirements that flowed from the PATRIOT Act and heightened regulator expectations following 9/11 and information that was uncovered afterwards."
The Oct. 4 Webcast will cover the recent exam manual update, NCUA's proposed suspicious activity reporting regulation, and provide "useful" guidance on risk assessments, said NAFCU. Three from NCUA's staff will be participating, including former NAFCU staffer Linda Dent, who is now a staff attorney at the agency and who drafted the SAR proposal. There will be an opportunity to ask questions of her and others from NCUA's Office of Examination and Insurance.
Credit unions can register at www.nafcu.org.
