WASHINGTON — CUNA's new radio program had a strong showing during its debut Sept. 10.

Twenty-nine stations carried the weekly, one-hour program titled Home and Family Finance, which will feature special guests speaking on a number of timely consumer finance issues. Four more stations are expected to be added to the lineup for the next scheduled show, the trade group said.

CUNA President/CEO Dan Mica led the inaugural show with a comparison of credit unions and banks. Other guests and topics on the Sept. 10 show included University of Wisconsin Professor Karen Goebel on disaster-proofing important documents; Jeanne Hogarth, manager of consumer education at the Federal Reserve Board, on leasing vs. buying vehicles; and Jack Gillis, author and director of public affairs for the Consumer Federation of America with auto buying tips in this period of high gas prices.

CUNA says the national radio program represents a major brand awareness initiative, but will not be a promotional platform for credit unions.

Hosted by radio veteran Paul Berry, the program is sponsored by CO-OP Financial Services, Accel, Visa and CUNA Strategic Services and airs at 3:00 p.m. EST on Sundays on the Radio America network.
