FORT WORTH, Texas — Unity One Federal Credit Union is taking consumers back to “school” this fall by offering free financial education classes.

The classes, which will begin on September 11 and continue through December, and will cover six topics with a meeting every other Monday. Classes will be taught in Spanish and limited to 20 students. Free childcare for students attending the classes will be available.

Topics covered include: How to Use a Financial Institution, How to Increase my Savings and Write a Budget, How to Use Credit, How to Buy a Car, How to Buy a Home and Introduction to Taxes.

Students completing all six hour-long sessions of the program will receive a special certification of completion for their accomplishments, followed by a reception for students and their families.

“We hope to reach as many people as possible to help them learn how to reach their personal financial goals,” said Northside Branch Manager Joe Martinez.

Unity One's Northside Branch is located in Fort Worth's predominately low-income and underbanked Northside.
