HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — "Surf's Up" takes on new meaning for nuVision Financial Federal Credit Union since it has been exclusively named "The Official Surf City USA(R) Credit Union."

As home to the USA Surf Team and hosting over 35 surfing competitions every year, Huntington Beach is known as the surf capital of the world and in November 2004 was self-branded as Surf City USA(R). "Our community takes considerable pride in the Surf City USA(R) moniker and all that it has come to represent about our lifestyle and the people who live here," said Doug Traub, president, Huntington Beach Conference and Visitors Bureau. "We now have six licensing partners in our family with products spanning the globe."

nuVision Financial officially adopted the trademark on July 15, 2006 and nuVision CEO Roger Ballard is enthusiastic about the new official title and the opportunities it presents.

"We are thrilled to have this door opened for us," said Ballard. "As the official Surf City USA(R) credit union, nuVision Financial will become much more involved with the city of Huntington Beach and the surrounding communities. In addition, our marketing is going to take on a new and fun approach."

With nuVision Financial FCU's marketing plans still being finalized, merchandising will play a large role. Huntington Beach has partnered up with Global Icons, Felt Bicycles, Summit West and Giant Merchandising to create and distribute official Surf City USA gear, which the credit union will use as giveaways during its branding campaign.
