ALEXANDRIA, Va. — NCUA Vice Chairman Rodney E. Hood provided a regulatory update for leaders of South Carolina credit unions during a CEO roundtable meeting last week.

"Today's roundtable meeting was very productive," Hood said. "I was very pleased to join South Carolina's credit union CEOs and leaders whose dedication to serving their members has made a powerful difference throughout the state. South Carolina's credit unions have stimulated economic growth while helping the underserved move closer to the financial mainstream. I was very impressed with how South Carolina's credit unions truly exhibit the cooperative spirit by giving back to the community by supporting charitable causes and helping with the ongoing hurricane recovery effort."

Hood also met with South Carolina Lieutenant Governor Andre? Bauer to discuss credit unions' role in strengthening the state's economy. "We discussed the importance of financial literacy and providing protection from predatory lending, especially in a state with such a large military presence," said Mr. Hood. "He was very pleased to hear more about credit union's dedication to serving their members in these vital areas."
