HARRISBURG, Pa. — The $2.4 billion Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union, itself a plaintiff in an attempt to recoup card fraud damages in court, used National Fraud Awareness Week to spread the anti-fraud message to its members.

The credit union's Loss Prevention and Security unit coordinated the effort which included handing out brochures and flyers about how to prevent different types of fraud as well as handing out first aid kits emblazoned with “PSECU Loss Prevention and Security” to remind members of how easy it is to get hurt in a scam.

The effort also included PSECU employees, the CU said.

“We included employees because many members look to the credit union for help as a first line of defense against fraud and identity theft,” notes Molly Broniak, loss prevention investigator for PSECU. “By discussing fraud prevention with our employees, they could in turn explain to our members how to best use the educational information we distributed during Fraud Awareness Week.” A number of members commented that PSECU's participation in this national event demonstrated PSECU's commitment to protecting their personal information.
