LUTHERVILLE, Md. — Students at Dundalk High School will have their own in-house credit union come Aug. 29 thanks to First Financial Federal Credit Union of Maryland.
The $537 million CU is sponsoring the student-run CU where members will be able to open accounts and withdraw up to $20 a day. Student volunteers from the school's financial management and accounting programs will staff the branch. Teachers from the business education departments will hire, supervise and train the students.
First Financial President/CEO Rob Windsor said the goal is to encourage student financial literacy. The student CU would be the first of its kind in Baltimore County here. First Financial is also working with Calvert Hall College High School to introduce debit cards for use in the cafeteria, bookstore and possibly to buy tickets to the prom and athletic events.
