RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — Kelly Purcell, director of federal government affairs for the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues, died on Aug. 1 of injuries she sustained when she was struck by a car while bicycling near her home in Chino, Calif.

"This is a sad day for all of us at the league, and for the entire credit union community," said Matt Davidson, league executive vice president. "Kelly was a tireless legislative advocate for California and Nevada credit unions. She brought energy and enthusiasm to our advocacy efforts and developed strong relationships with members of Congress, where she was widely known and respected."

Purcell joined the league in October 2003 as its federal legislative affairs manager. She became acting director of federal government affairs in September 2004 and was named director in February 2005. Her responsibilities included overseeing the leagues' congressional and regulatory advocacy programs at the federal level on behalf of California and Nevada credit unions. At press time, information regarding memorial donations was not yet available
