ALEXANDRIA, Va. – CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union has merged with Providence Hospital Federal Credit Union effective July 1, 2006.

"We welcome the members of Providence Hospital Federal Credit Union and are very excited about the opportunity to serve their membership. Providence Hospital FCU provided their members with quality service and we plan to build upon their success," said CommonWealth One FCU CEO John Blair.

Founded in 1969, Providence Hospital FCU was a $4 million financial institution that served over 1,400 members consisting of Providence Hospital employees/associated medical practices and their family members. The credit union had one branch, which was located in the Washington, D.C. hospital.

CommonWealth One FCU has over $230 million in assets and serves approximately 35,000 members throughout Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, Harrisonburg, Va. and the Counties of Warren and Clarke in Virginia as well as over 100 select employee groups. It is a full-service financial institution with eight branch locations.

CommonWealth One will continue to operate the branch located at Providence Hospital and plans are underway to install a full-service ATM.
