Mark Holmes, the vice president and marketing director for Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union, Miramar, Fla., was named the United Way of Broward County Volunteer of the Year for 2005. A member of the United Way campaign cabinet, Holmes' efforts to help identify new sponsor companies, increase Eastern Financial pledges by 40% and help direct the first annual Swing for the Kids golf tournament, raising $40,000 for this United Way, earned him this award. Unicorp Federal Credit Union, St. John, Ind., recently recognized Christine Rutledge at a dinner held in her honor for 20 years of service to the credit union. Board President Edward J. Strbjak Sr. and Manager Richard Mollway presented Rutledge with a gift and a Certificate of Appreciation. In 1986, Rutledge started as a part-time member service representative and was promoted to the lending area as a senior loan officer in 1990. Rutledge was promoted to loan manager in Feb. 2005. America's Christian Credit Union, Glendora, Calif., has announced Debra "Deedee" Duff as the CU's Employee of the Year for 2005. At the CU's Annual Meeting, Duff was selected from four candidates based on her commitment to service and excellent communication skills. She is currently a member development specialist and has worked at the credit union for eight years. Catherine Roberts, CEO of Research Federal Credit Union, Warren, Mich., was presented the Michigan Credit Union Foundation's 2006 Community Volunteer Award for her outstanding service and volunteerism outside the credit union movement. In addition to her work as a mentor for MENTTIUM 100, a program that provides guidance and support to young professional women, she has volunteered for many other organizations including the Girl Scouts of America and the American Cancer Society. Global Credit Union, Spokane, Wash., presented Adrianne Imada with the Domici Allessio Employee of the Quarter Award. Imada was nominated by her peers and won over a field of 15 finalists, by striving to be knowledgeable at her job and a willingness to help co-workers and members alike. Imada started work at Global in 2004 as a member service representative at Global's East Sprague Avenue Valley branch and has worked in the Card Service Department for the past 7 months. Consumers Credit Union, Oshtemo, Mich., has been recognized for the second consecutive year as one of the 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work for in West Michigan. The CU was graded mainly on employee input, but benefits, hiring practices, employee programs and work environment were also considered.
