SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - After six decades, Southwest Teachers Credit Union is changing its name to Educational Community Credit Union. The name change is a move to more accurately reflect the members it serves. "Our new name is more inclusive than our previous name. We don't have a community charter.we haven't expanded our field of membership. We serve the teachers, administration, support personnel and students that comprise the educational community," said ECCU President Steve Wansing. The $34 million credit union will celebrate the name change during Member Appreciation Days, July 10-14. Members visiting the credit union's branches will receive free t-shirts and giveaways.
