WALLINGFORD, Conn. - The Connecticut Credit Union Associationlooked to a former league leader to fill its vacant corner office.The CTCUA has named former Minnesota CU Network President/CEO KevinChandler as its new president/CEO. Chandler left the Minnesotaleague in May. The league would not comment on the circumstancessurrounding his departure. Chandler led the Minnesota CU Networkfor nine years. He is an attorney and former state senator. "TheConnecticut Credit Union Association is everything a leaguepresident dreams of. Dedicated members, solid credit unions, andthe will to make a difference," said Chandler. Chandler replacesArt Corey, who spent two years as CEO before departing this pastMay to practice financial services law with the Connecticut lawfirm Tyler Cooper. "We were looking for somebody involved in thecredit union movement on a national level that had achieved goodthings for a league previously, and that could bring great thingsto Connecticut," said Connecticut CU Association Chairman KathyChartier. The CTCUA cited Chandler's success in joining the twoleagues in Minnesota into one as an example of his leadership.Chartier noted that CTCUA did not use a recruitment firm. It placedads in the trade press and a board committee built a list ofqualified candidates. Chandler is relocating from Minnesota. Hisfirst day on the job is Aug. 1.
