SHARON, Mass. – Forget the ice-cream truck, for The Heights Elementary School it isn't officially summer until Sharon Credit Union's "Smart Saver" mascot Frugal Freddie stops by with ice cream in hand. Frugal Freddie's ice cream celebration is designed to mark another successful year of the credit union's "Savings Makes Sense" in-school banking program.
Sharon CU Professional Development Coordinator Bridgette MacDonald runs the program, which includes monthly visits to the school to collect deposits and answer questions from the students.
"Sharon Credit Union's Smart Saver Program provides an opportunity for our children to learn the importance of savings at an early age. I enjoy working with the children and look forward to another successful banking school year for 2006-2007. Everyone can benefit from saving and all students are encouraged to participate," said MacDonald.
