SAN ANTONIO – The Alamo Chapter of Credit Unions has honored Security Service Federal Credit Union Director Emeritus Cliff Turner's over 50 years of dedicated service to the credit union industry with the Distinguished Service Award. Turner has been involved with credit unions since Security Service Federal Credit Union was established at Kelly Air Force Base in 1956. Turner was officially elected to SSFCU's volunteer board of directors in 1959 and served continuously until his retirement in 2005. During his tenure, Turner was an active participant in credit union associations and helped to drive the overall success of SSFCU. "Cliff is very deserving of this award for his continuous dedication and service as an advocate for credit unions around the country," said John Worthington, SSFCU senior vice president. "He has been a consistent force behind the growth and success of Security Service, and we are extremely proud that he was selected for this coveted award." Turner was named SSFCU's first director emeritus when he retired as an active SSFCU board member last year. He completed a career in the US Air Force and retired as a major in 1962. He also completed 15 years of service as an Air Force civilian retiring from civil service in 1977.
