WASHINGTON - The latest member of Congress to officially back the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 2317) is Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.). With the addition of Norton, the co-sponsorship of CURIA is now up to 122 legislators. The bill would make life easier for credit unions by establishing a risk-based capital system and expanding business lending authorities. Rumor has it that a hearing is in the works for the legislation this year, but no date has materialized yet.
