EVERETT, Wash. – The $31 million SnoCope FCU, in cooperation with co-sponsors from the local business community and police, held a “free shred day” to highlight the dangers of identity theft and the importance of safely disposing of papers which could be used by thieves.

“It is estimated that over 500,000 people will become a victim of identity theft this year and the number is growing every day. By offering this free shred day event we can assist our members in keeping their personal information from getting into the wrong hands,” said Steven Ellis, CEO of SnoCope FCU. “If we stopped just one person from getting their identity stolen, the event was a success.”
