ORLANDO, Fla. - CUNA is putting together a National Financial Education Summit in Washington, D.C. later this year, Chairman Juri Valdov, president and CEO of Northwest Federal Credit Union, announced during last week's Future Forum.
On Sept. 26, CUNA plans to bring together some top-notch financial literacy efforts so the various organizations can compare notes and strengthen their own programs. Natural groups that would be invited include the National Endowment for Financial Education, BizKids, the National Credit Union Foundation, and others, according to CUNA.
"There are many programs out there," Valdov acknowledged. "We all do something.We want to come together and come up with some kind of document that says, `Here's what we're doing. Here's what we'd like to do. Here's where we want to go.'"
CUNA is also interested in inviting interested government representatives, a spokesman said, including NCUA, Treasury, and members of Congress.
The results of the meeting are to be compiled in a "compendium" to be posted on CUNA's Web site (www.cuna.org).
