WARREN, Mich. – Research Federal Credit Union CEO Catherine Roberts has been presented the Michigan Credit Union Foundation's 2006 Community Volunteer Award for her outstanding service and volunteerism outside the credit union movement.
Over her 25-year career Roberts has held numerous volunteer positions with credit unions.
Active in her community, Roberts serves as a mentor for MENTTIUM 100, a program that provides guidance and support to young professional women. Roberts has also volunteered for many other organizations including the Girl Scouts of America and the American Cancer Society.

Under her leadership, Research FCU has also been recognized with several community service awards including The Woman's Economic Club's Today's Workplace of Tomorrow Award, The World Council of Credit Unions' Silver Award and MCUF's International Credit Union Development Award.
"What an honor it is to receive a volunteer award from a movement that is built on volunteerism," said Roberts. "Credit unions should be proud of their role in not only promoting economic progress and opportunities, but also in fostering the growth of democracy and cooperation around the world."
As the recipient of the Credit Union Community Volunteer Award, Roberts will be able to select an individual or individuals to receive a $5,000 scholarship to attend a Michigan college or university.
