BURLINGTON, Ontario – Kenneth W. Lalonde took over as the new president and CEO for the CUMIS Group of Canada and venture manager of the Credit Union Insurance Services (CUIS) program on June 5, 2006. He replaces Michael Porter who retired in May 2006.
Lalonde brings a strong background in the financial services industry. He is the former executive president of branch and small business banking at CIBC based in Toronto. His responsibilities included the overseeing of 14,000 employees at 1,100 branches, and their ATM network. He was also president and CEO of CIBC Insurance Company Management Ltd.
Lalonde also spent 10 years in the consumer packaged goods industry working with Shulton Inc. and Beecham Canada Inc. in various senior leadership posts.

His interests are varied. Lalonde has served on the boards of the Toronto International Film Festival Group and the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. He has also devoted time to the Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter and the United Way of Calgary.
He is married with three children.
