LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Threatening to detonate a bomb from his cell phone, a man robbed First Light Federal Credit Union from one of its drive-thru lanes.
Police said the alleged robber pulled up in the drive-thru on the south side of the credit union and sent a note to the teller saying he had placed a bag containing explosives in the credit union lobby, according to KVIA.com. He demanded cash, credit union employees secured the credit union and then provided him with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
While police say the man threatened he could detonate a bomb with his cell phone, the Las Cruces Police Department bomb squad found no explosive or any bag left unattended.
