WASHINGTON – NAFCU Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Dan Berger is auctioning off his artwork that has been displayed at D.C.'s Palette Restaurant & Bar to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. "I have a soft spot for children and children's charities," Berger commented. "I am especially connected to the Boys & Girls Clubs having personally grown up in a local club in Gainesville, Florida. I know first hand the good work they do in providing an outlet for kids in terms of athletic and educational opportunities." His work drew about 300 people into the Palette on opening night.
The online auction, through Charity Folks (www.CharityFolks.com), runs through June 13, 2006.
"We are deeply thankful to Mr. Berger for his generous donation from the Palette show silent auction." Will A. Gunn, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, said. "Through our 21 clubs, three outreach centers and overnight summer camp, we serve over 36,000 young people each year. We are able to do this work because of the commitment of private citizens like Mr. Berger."

"I paint or draw what I am feeling at that moment, using colors and techniques that match my mood at that moment in time. However, I do have a tendency to enjoy painting on large canvases and to use a lot of colors and texture in my paintings. The texture gives the painting a third dimension, more depth, more emotion," Berger, who has taken up painting in just the last three years, said.
