PHOENIX – Six representatives from three Arizona credit unions and the Arizona Credit Union System recently returned from a weeklong, fact-finding tour of the marketing efforts ACUS' partner credit union, Caja Libertad.

Specifically, the U.S. credit union representatives wanted to find out how Caja Libertad promotes services to their Latino membership.

Participants in the trip hosted by ACUS in conjunction with the World Council of Credit Unions included: First Credit Union's Carolyn Cameron, vice president marketing; Lucy and Jose Carrera Sr., board members; Arizona FCU's Laura Lowe Edgar, director of community services; Beatrice Vidal, business development director, Pima Federal CU; and Sandy Watts, director of communications, Arizona Credit Union System.

Vidal observed that Caja Libertad “shares the same philosophy as Pima Federal Credit Union when it comes to caring about its members and the communities they serve. All the information they shared with us was informative and will help us in our marketing efforts.”

The group also had an opportunity to meet two of Caja Libertad's members who shared their stories of how the credit union provided them with loans to start their businesses. They also visited two local branch offices to see first-hand how the credit union's marketing efforts have helped to attract new members.
