ATLANTA – Information technology firm SecureWorks has completed a study that indicates credit unions are a favorite target of hackers.

The study, which spanned from February of last year to March of this year, showed that the company's credit union clients experienced 67% more Internet attacks than its banking clients. SecureWorks has 600 bank clients and 500 credit union clients.

The company said on average it blocks 767 attacks per day per credit union client. SecureWorks Chief Technology Officer Jon Ramsey believes credit unions are being targeted because hackers think credit union networks aren't as secure as bank networks.
