ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NCUA Vice Chairman Rodney Hood recently toured the Garmisch, Germany branch of Service Credit Union, which is located on a military installation to serve the personnel stationed there.

"I was very impressed with the credit union's Warrior Rewards and Star Programs, as well as its commitment to providing financial education by offering seminars and free consultation services," said Hood.

The Warrior Rewards program recognizes the sacrifices and unique financial needs of service members during periods of mobility and long-term separation by offering low loan rates and a high payout on certificates. The Star Program offers a special collection of unique services, including free checking, high yield savings, and share certificates to members whose annual gross income is below $45,000 or their military base pay falls below $2,175 a month.

Hood was in Germany earlier this month for the 34th Annual European Credit Union Council Overseas Conference held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. He discussed the role credit unions play in democracy abroad and provided updates on NCUA.
