POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union Board Chairman T.S. Jones has been named the New York Credit Union Hall of Fame Award winner.
This prestigious award, from The New York State Credit Union League honors individuals who have devoted their entire lives to the philosophy and success of the credit union movement.
Jones has served as volunteer for over 40 years. In 1963, a small group of people, including Jones, founded what is now HVFCU. The credit union was established to provide a place where members came first, not profits. By the end of the first year, the credit union had 14 member accounts and $172 in assets. During the next four decades, Jones served in numerous leadership positions as a volunteer to improve the credit union, while maintaining the original goal of "members first" as the primary focus.
