DOWNEY, Calif. – Financial Partners Credit Union recently helped give 34th District credit union CEOs and executives important face time with Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard.
Hosting a luncheon for the congresswoman, the credit union provided an intimate environment to discuss current credit union topics.
The congresswoman gave a Capitol Hill update on current topics ranging from the new immigration laws, social security, to the war in Iraq. She then questioned CU attendees about credit union related issues, particularly CURIA, and the new increased capital requirements and business lending cap. Financial Partners Credit Union President CEO Nader Moghaddam shed some light on the capital requirement adjustments of CURIA, while California Credit Union Business/Community Development Director Chris Kerecman and Jon Hernandez, president/CEO for Downey City FCU, explained the importance of increasing the business lending cap side of CURIA.

"We can't always find the time and money to travel to Washington and meet with our Congressional delegation. Our meeting today in the local District with Congresswoman Roybal-Allard was relaxed and informative for everyone involved. I think we helped advance the credit union legislative agenda in a positive way," said Kerecman.
"We had a very informative and useful discussion," added California League President/CEO Bill Cheney. "Nader and his team are to be praised for hosting the event and we were pleased that Congresswoman Roybal-Allard took the time to listen to credit union leaders."
