COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – Scott Credit Union Board Chairman Betty Renth has recently been honored for her extraordinary 50-year career. During the Annual Membership Meeting, Scott CU President Frank Padak presented Renth with a history book that was produced in her honor titled Scott Credit Union: Through The Years, Through The Changes. Elected to the board in 1956, Renth assumed the position of board vice president. In 1971, Betty accepted appointment to the position of board chairman and has served as such for the last 35 years. According to Scott CU execs, Renth's contribution of common sense insight, knowledge of sound fiscal management and demand for exceptional performance on behalf of the membership during the last fifty years has helped the credit union grow to over $375 million in assets. Active in the credit union community, Renth was elected in 1988 to a three-year term on the board of directors of the National Association Credit Union Chairmen. Over the years the credit union community has recognized her dedication to service. In 1991 she was honored for the credit union's effort to provide low-cost loans to returning Desert Storm veterans through the Welcome Home Loan Program. She was presented the Spirit of Service Award and was named the Volunteer of the Year by the Illinois Credit Union System in 1997. Renth was later inducted into the Illinois Credit Union Hall of Fame in 2002. She was also a second runner-up for the 2005 Director of the Year Award during the national annual convention of the National Center for Credit Unions.
