YORKTOWN, Va. – It's one thing for consumers who find themselves dealing with financial challenges to look for quick solutions to the problems they're immediately faced with. But 1st Advantage FCU has come out with three programs designed to help members stay on track when challenges arise. The Credit Score Builder program is for any member who wants to raise their credit score through smart money and credit management. Advantage Advance provides a low cost alternative to payday lenders by offering a similar type of loan, but charging a much lower interest rate for a two-week period. Finally, the Fuel Assistance Program is designed to help members of modest means with their home heating or air conditioning costs. 1st Advantage's John Sargent, vice president of lending, said members may find themselves in a worse position if they focus only on quick solutions to their financial problems. The credit union's new programs, he added, are designed to offer members “positive alternatives that can help relieve their immediate problems and help position them for long-term success.”
