CLATSKANIE, Ore. – Wauna Federal Credit Union has elected longtime member Carl Schmele as chairman. Wauna FCU execs say they are excited about the direction of the credit union with Schmele heading the board. Schmele, a 20-year member, has been a board member for five of the last 10 years and has served as first and second vice chair as well as secretary. He has also served the WWRFPD for 15 years, the last two on the board of directors. A past chairman of the Westport Water Association, Schmele's other volunteer activities include CASA volunteer, firefighter/EMT, AFSCME union member, and president and shop steward.
