WASHINGTON – Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Education Dan Iannicola Jr. will travel to Madison, Wis. on April 13 in the next leg of his national tour for Financial Literacy month. Iannicola will speak at the CUNA International Building on Mineral Point Road and discuss the strategy for improving financial literacy in America and reaching out to the unbanked. Joining him will be NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson who will speak on credit unions' role in bringing Americans to the financial mainstream. Two weeks ago, Treasury Secretary John Snow, along with Iannicola, U.S. Treasurer Anna Cabral, members of Congress and leaders of federal agencies, released the Financial Literacy and Education Commission's strategy to improve financial literacy in the U.S. Their plan is entitled "Taking Ownership of the Future: The National Strategy for Financial Literacy."
