COLUMBUS, Ohio – Credit Union of Ohio has joined forces with other credit unions and the Ohio Credit Union League to develop a six-week financial education program at Columbus State Community College this spring quarter. "With all credit unions having the same philosophy of `People Helping People,' we feel this is a great way Credit Union of Ohio can help everyone become more financially sound," said CU of Ohio Chief Financial Officer Rich Capuano. The course is designed to provide Columbus State's 1,000 students from sixty-one different countries an opportunity to learn everyday skills for financial survival and success without the language barrier that has caused an unfair advantage in the past. Dr. Tara Narcross, Director of the Language Institute says, "Financial education is desperately needed for these new immigrants who are being taken advantage of daily. They do not know our language or our laws and are not prepared to protect themselves."
