SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Arrowhead Credit Union hosted a “Job Seekers” workshop aimed at helping teens develop the interview skills necessary to obtain a job. The interactive workshop was led by Rachel Kokosenski, a former career counselor, and was open to the public and attended by 45 teens and even several parents. The workshop covered topics including appropriate wardrobe choices, proper preparation skills and common interview questions. A panel of five students were chosen randomly from the audience to assess the answers to questions such as, “Tell me about yourself” and “Why should I hire you?” By sharing answers, the attendees were able to better refine their skills with the useful feedback. The practical life skills such as interviewing for a job, speaking with confidence and even dressing correctly require preparation and practice to be a success. Most teens have not developed these skills yet and the workshop provided a fun and non-threatening atmosphere for these students to practice. Arrowhead Credit Union sponsors the Generation Arrowhead Club which is aimed at helping youths age 13 to 21 to develop good financial habits, including saving and borrowing wisely. The “Job Seekers” workshop was one of many that the CU sponsors through its Generation Arrowhead Club.
