MANCHESTER, N.H.-In an effort to promote credit unions' heritage, NAFCU has contributed $50,000 to America's Credit Union Museum and plans to promote the museum at its Annual Conference in July. The donation provided NAFCU the naming rights to a room "essentially as soon as you walk in," President and CEO Fred Becker explained. NAFCU does not have definite plans for how it will decorate the walls and floor space but one of the ideas being tossed around is a collage of the `modern day' credit union on the wall that is immediately visible when you walk in. On the wall to the right, he said, NAFCU is considering placing memorabilia from the trade association. NAFCU is also considering a flat screen television for images and clips. "I was very, very impressed with it," Becker said of the museum, "and how much they've brought it forward." He added that NAFCU will provide a booth for the museum in a fairly prominent location at its Annual Conference in July to help promote it.
