DOWNEY, Calif. -Financial Partners Credit Union and nuVision Financial FCU couldn't do anything to avert the recent data breach at a Southern California Boeing site, but the two credit unions jointly offered Boeing employees a series of educational seminars on ID theft to address victims' concerns and questions. Financial Partners' Lori Reeves, senior vice president of marketing and public relations, said the credit unions "had to act quickly to provide up-to-date information on how Boeing employees could protect themselves and to help manage the panic caused by the announced breach." She explained that Financial Partners approached nuVision with a proposal to jointly offer the identity theft education seminars to Southern California Boeing employees. "As credit unions, we continue to differentiate ourselves from banks by combining efforts for the betterment of the communities we serve," she said, noting that both credit unions have offices located at Southern California Boeing sites. Over 250 Boeing employees attended the seminar. Kerry Lewis, nuVision Financial's chief sales and marketing officer, said the feedback both credit unions got was "very positive." He continued that, "People want to feel safe and they want to know their identities are not being used for illegal purposes or gains. Both nuVision Financial and Financial Partners have dedicated personnel, services and information available so that our members can be proactive in protecting their identities."
