LATHAM, N.Y. – Cal Ripken Jr., baseball’s Iron Man, will deliver the keynote address at the New York State Credit Union League’s 86th Annual Meeting and Convention. Ripken will speak on “The Keys to Perseverance” at the four-day event May 15-18 at the Saratoga Hotel and Convention Center. A future Hall of Fame member and former Baltimore Orioles shortstop and third baseman, Ripken in 1995 surpassed Yankee legend Lou Gehrig’s record for consecutive games played. He retired from baseball in 1998 after playing 2,632 consecutive games, 501 more than Gehrig. He is also one of only eight players in history to achieve 400 home runs and 3,000 hits. He was the American League’s Rookie of the Year in 1982, a two-time American League Most Valuable Player in 1982 and 1991, Major League Player of the year as part of the World Series Champion Baltimore Orioles (1983), and a 19-time All-Star, receiving MVP awards in 1991 and 2001. The theme for the league’s annual meeting and convention is “Credit Unions: Formula for Success.”
