WASHINGTON-The strength and health of the credit union community lies with a strong dual chartering system, NASCUS Chair Linda Jekel director of credit unions for Washington state, said. "Dual chartering also allows the system to effectively work together on common challenges – this function of the dual chartering system could not be any more important than it is this year," Jekel stated. She cited the issues of documentation of service to those of modest means and ensuring passage of regulatory relief as examples. "The challenges of one charter are the challenges of every charter," Jekel said.
