ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA recently announced that it has slated an Access Across America Economic Empowerment Summit for Dallas, Texas on April 12. Key issues to be discussed at the free, one-day summit include Health Savings Accounts, homeownership, member business lending, and serving emerging markets. The event will provide information to credit union officials and board volunteers on how to take advantage of federal resources and partnerships to best serve their members. "As a federal regulator, I understand that government's role is not to create wealth, but rather to foster an environment where Americans and their families may achieve their financial dreams," NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson said. "There are scores of resources and partnership opportunities with government agencies that credit unions can use to best serve their members, especially those of modest financial means, and this summit will highlight these opportunities." Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas credit union officials are invited to attend.
