FLINT, Mich. – To help make the tax season easier for individuals who are eligible for the earned income credit, Security Federal Credit Union is offering Flint and Saginaw community members access to a free Web-based income tax filing program called "Just file it! We'll help." The earned income credit is a tax credit for certain people who work and have earned income under $37,263. By taking advantage of the EIC, tax filers can reduce the amount of income tax owed, resulting in a possible refund. The filing program is another example of how $237 million Security Federal continues to offer programs designed to support the Flint and Saginaw communities, said Terry Pierce, Security Federal CEO/president. "Credit unions are founded on the principle of `people helping people' and we're proud to play a role in providing tax preparation resources for members of our community," Pierce said. Members will be able to access the program on Security Federal's Web site.
