WARRENVILLE, Ill. and ALBANY, N.Y. – If the merger between Mid-States Corporate and Empire Corporate comes to fruition, the newly-merged corporate will assume the name Members United Corporate Federal Credit Union. “We felt that the new corporate's name should demonstrate the many positive facets the organization will offer the nation's credit unions,” said Joe Herbst, current president/CEO of Empire Corporate and slotted to be Members United's CEO. “Member relationships will continue to be at the core of everything we do, and we felt that honoring that connection with the word `Members' first and foremost in our name was paramount. And, the word `United' expresses not only the solidarity of the combined organization, but also the power of unity of credit unions nationwide.” The corporates considered just about everything with the new name and logo. The “deeply-hued” green, as they describe it, resembles the ink on the back of currency. The platinum star in the logo expresses “quality, wealth and esteem” associated with platinum. The eagle underscores the national scope of the new corporate and expresses “pride in country.” Even the serif typeface had a reason behind it. They described the typeface as “refined and timeless”
