RALEIGH, N.C. – State Employee's Credit Union has selectedCorillian Corporation's Fraud Detection System and IntelligentAuthentication products to provide enhanced security to the creditunion's home banking platform. SECU has been using Corillian'sVoyager home banking platform since 1998. According to Corillian, the Fraud Detection System analyzes traffic on the credit union'sWeb site using a process called Preemptive Forensics. This systemmonitors, among other things, the suspicious copying of images fromthe credit union's Web site. Cyber criminals copy such images torecreate the target Web site for their phishing attacks. Corillianthen tracks that activity to its source in an effort to thwartphishing attacks even before they're launched. IntelligentAuthentic-ation analyzes member usage patterns and statistics toidentify suspicious activity and then, as necessary, challenges orcompletely denies access. For example, the system might questionaccess from an IP address in Amsterdam by a member who lives inNorth Carolina. “We feel that it's extremely important to provide asecure, user-friendly online channel for our growing membership,”says Rick Rhoads, senior vice president of eServices for SECU.“After significant industry research, we selected IntelligentAuthentication for its ability to provide strong, FFIEC-compliantauthentication without compromising our member experience and theconvenience of our online platform.” With more than $12 billion inassets and approximately 1.2 million members, SECU is the secondlargest credit union in the United States.
