RALEIGH, N.C. – State Employee’s Credit Union has selected Corillian Corporation’s Fraud Detection System and Intelligent Authentication products to provide enhanced security to the credit union’s home banking platform. SECU has been using Corillian’s Voyager home banking platform since 1998. According to Corillian, the Fraud Detection System analyzes traffic on the credit union’s Web site using a process called Preemptive Forensics. This system monitors, among other things, the suspicious copying of images from the credit union’s Web site. Cyber criminals copy such images to recreate the target Web site for their phishing attacks. Corillian then tracks that activity to its source in an effort to thwart phishing attacks even before they’re launched. Intelligent Authentic-ation analyzes member usage patterns and statistics to identify suspicious activity and then, as necessary, challenges or completely denies access. For example, the system might question access from an IP address in Amsterdam by a member who lives in North Carolina. “We feel that it’s extremely important to provide a secure, user-friendly online channel for our growing membership,” says Rick Rhoads, senior vice president of eServices for SECU. “After significant industry research, we selected Intelligent Authentication for its ability to provide strong, FFIEC-compliant authentication without compromising our member experience and the convenience of our online platform.” With more than $12 billion in assets and approximately 1.2 million members, SECU is the second largest credit union in the United States.
