SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Redwood Credit Union (RCU) has donated $20,000 to help victims of the 2005 hurricanes, assist credit unions located in the disaster areas, and help the local chapter of the American Red Cross. Upon news of the hurricanes, RCU quickly established a Disaster Relief Fund, and designated all RCU branches as hurricane aid collection points. Nearly $10,000 was collected in just two months. RCU also contributed $1,000 to the "Kids of Katrina" fund, and $5,000 to a fund established by CUNA to help credit unions affected in the hurricane region. The credit union also donated $4,000 to the Sonoma County chapter of the American Red Cross. "Our hearts go out to all those affected by the hurricanes," said RCU President/CEO Brett Martinez. "Redwood Credit Union along with our members, officials and staff wanted to contribute in any way we could, and we hope the funds raised and donated will provide some relief."
