Cabrillo Credit Union, San Diego, and its partners, Sharp Credit Union and Carlsbad Credit Union have honored its credit union members for their service and dedication to the credit union. Among the honorees were United States Border Patrol Agent Frank Miranda and Tina Bravo-Paisley who were presented with an award consisting of gold, silver, and bronze United States Border Patrol coins. Sharp CU honored Betty Kerns and Patty Gaillard for their service and dedication. Carlsbad City CU honored retired CEO Jonell Smith with an award for her service to the credit union and Carlsbad City Employees. Taleris Credit Union, Cleveland, Ohio Board Chairman Joseph W. Coleman, has been inducted into the Parma Senior High School Alumni Association Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was established in 1981 to recognize graduates who have demonstrated involvement and leadership in their communities and their organizations. In addition Taleris CU First Vice Chairperson Mary Jane Camarato, has been inducted into the Solon Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was created to recognize individuals that have made outstanding contributions to community development in the city of Solon. DATCU Credit Union, Denton, Texas, has been named one of the "Best Companies to Work for in Texas" by Texas Monthly magazine. The awards program aims to motivate Texas companies to focus on, measure and move their workplace environments toward excellence. The selection process was based on an assessment of a company's employee policies and procedures and the results of an internal employee survey. DATCU, along with the other finalists for the "Best Company to Work for in Texas," will be recognized at a gala awards luncheon and actual rankings will be published in the February 2006 issue of Texas Monthly. Midwest United Credit Union and CommunityAmerica Credit Union, Kansas City, Mo., have been recognized as one of the "Best Places to Work" by the Kansas City Business Journal. Ten companies were named winners in each of three categories; small, medium and large companies. CommunityAmerica was named one of the top 10 in the large company category. Midwest United CU was named one of the top 10 in the medium company category. Both credit unions have received the honor for the second consecutive year. Cross Valley Federal Credit Union, Wilkes-Barr, Pa., has been presented the prestigious Trudeau Mission Impact Award from the American Lung Association. This award honors organizations or companies that have made the most significant impact on their community's health through their personal efforts. This award is chosen from nominees throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia. Cross Valley FCU will serve as presenting sponsor for the "Blow the Whistle on Asthma" Walk, which is planned for June 2nd 2006 in Kirby Park. E1 Financial Credit Union, Pasadena, Calif., has received commendation from the Monterey Park Police Department. As a Tee and Platinum Tee Sponsor of the Monterey Park Police Department's 6th Annual D.A.R.E. Golf Tournament, the credit union joined many local organizations and businesses in contributing money to send approximately 80 Monterey Park students to camp in the San Bernardino Mountains. The Monterey Park Police Department raised about $11,000 in order to introduce students, many of whom are first-time campers, to the great outdoors. Police Department personnel volunteer their time as counselors at D.A.R.E. Camp and reinforce each camper's self-esteem. They promote positive alternatives to drugs and gangs as well as emphasize the positive results of teamwork.
