WASHINGTON-CUNA's 2006 Governmental Affairs Conference next month will be teaming with speakers of note. CUNA announced last week that it has added a number of speakers for the conference Feb. 26 through March 1. Treasury Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions Emil Henry has agreed to speak at the GAC on Tuesday, Feb. 28. He will be joined by Congressman Mike Michaud (D-Maine), a former credit union director, and syndicated columnist George Will. NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson, Vice Chairman Rodney Hood, and Board Member Gigi Hyland will also be addressing the crowd. CUNA had previously announced that House Financial Services Committee Chairman Mike Oxley (R-Ohio), who announced his retirement last year as of the end of 2006; Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 2317) sponsors Ed Royce (R-Calif.) and Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.); Treasury Secretary John Snow; and retired ABC Anchorman Ted Koppel would be appearing.
